Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) has announced details of seven forthcoming Teaching and Learning seminars funded by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education as part of the 2018-2019 National Seminar Series.

The seminars will take place in the institute from February to June 2019 and cover a range of topics from ePortfolios to Educational Leadership.

International experts

“We are delighted to be bringing such a wide range of internationally recognised Teaching and Learning experts to the institute to facilitate these seminars in collaboration with WIT staff,” said Dr Helen Murphy, Head of School of Lifelong Learning and Education in WIT and one of the designated institute associates for the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning.

Some of the guest speakers of the seminars include Professor Elspeth Jones (Emerita Professor of the Internationalisation of Higher Education, Leeds Beckett University); Professor Meg Benke (Empire State College, New York) and Dr Naomi Winstone (Director of the Surrey Assessment and Learning Lab at the University of Surrey).

Teaching and Learning Seminars

Laura Widger, Head of the WIT Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning and also a designated institute associate for the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, indicated that WIT was really successful in this funding call and is hosting the second highest amount of seminars nationally.”

She continued, “The seminars will provide an opportunity for colleagues across WIT who submitted the successful funding applications to work collaboratively with international experts and lead the continuing national discussions on evolving approaches to teaching and learning in higher education.
