2025 Graduate Research Academy Awards Honour Outstanding Maynooth University Researchers and Scholars

The Director of Graduate Research presented the 2025 Graduate Research Academy Awards and scholarship recognitions during Research Week at Maynooth University with a ceremony held in Renehan Hall on the South Campus.

The event celebrated academic excellence and research impact across the university community, recognising recipients of the Postgraduate Research Excellence Awards (one per faculty), the Postgraduate Research Community Impact Award, the Award for Excellence in Doctoral Supervision, and the Graduate Research Academy (GRA) Scholarship Awards, which include the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarships and the John & Pat Hume Scholarships.

Among those honoured were:

  • PhD researcher Bana Abu Zuluf, who received the Postgraduate Research Excellence Award for the Faculty of Social Sciences.

  • Final year LLB student Simona Sandulache, who received the SPUR – Audience Choice Award.

In addition, three PhD researchers were recognised as recipients of the Taighde Éireann-funded Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarships:

  • Kim McLoughlin, supervised by Dr Sinéad Ring and Prof Claire Hamilton.

  • Stephanie Vento, supervised by Dr Ian Marder and Dr Cian Ó Concubhair.

  • Alessia Palladino, supervised by Dr Orla Kelleher and Dr Mary Dobbs.

The awards ceremony highlighted the exceptional talent, dedication, and scholarly contributions of postgraduate researchers, as well as the invaluable support provided by their supervisors and mentors.
