The School of Education Postgraduate Research Conference Committee at Trinity College Dublin has issued a call for abstracts for its 17th Annual Postgraduate Research (PGR) Conference, scheduled to take place in person on Saturday, 23 May 2026, at the Neill Lecture Theatre in the Trinity Long Room Hub.

The event will run from 10:00 to 15:00 and welcomes submissions from current and recent doctoral students within the School of Education, as well as researchers from related disciplines.

This year’s conference theme, “The Rhythms of Research,” has been proposed by Dr. Erika Piazzoli and draws inspiration from the academic work of Brigid Mary Costello. The theme explores the varied “rhythms” of academic research, highlighting the non-linear nature of the research journey, including cycles of progress, periods of challenge, and shifting paces of intellectual development.

Organisers are encouraging contributions that critically reflect on how these rhythms influence research practice. Submissions may address collaborative or interdisciplinary work, the cyclical impact of policy on education research, or the evolving pace of academic inquiry. The committee has also highlighted interest in emerging areas such as play-based learning, digital literacies, artificial intelligence in education, and inclusive education.

Key dates for the conference have also been confirmed. The deadline for abstract submissions is 1 March 2026, with notification of acceptance scheduled for 15 March 2026. Conference registration will remain open from 15 March until 21 May 2026, ahead of the main event on 23 May.

The conference will be held in line with Trinity College Dublin’s Dignity and Respect policy, with organisers emphasising their commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive academic environment. Participants are encouraged to indicate any accessibility requirements, including Irish Sign Language (ISL) or English interpreting services, in advance.
