Ireland Policy is hosting a Research and Innovation Strategy in Ireland, a Policy Forum for Ireland on Tuesday, 8th March 2022.

This conference will assess priorities for Research and Innovation, including measures outlined in the consultation on a National Research and Innovation Strategy.

It comes as the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science continues to develop the new strategy, which will run to 2027.

The keynote contribution will be from Peter Clifford, Head of Strategy, Science Foundation Ireland.

Delegates will discuss the development of the final strategy, priorities for its implementation, implications for policy and stakeholders, and what will be needed to achieve its key aims, which include:

  • using research and innovation to tackle societal and economic challenges in the context of COVID-19
  • developing the research system and base, growing capacity and capability, and supporting the workforce
  • increasing public engagement
  • driving all-island collaboration, as well as collaboration with the EU and more widely, and growing Ireland’s global presence in R&I

The discussion is bringing together stakeholders with key policy officials who are due to attend from the Department for Communities, NI; the Department for the Economy, NI; the Department of Finance, NI; BEIS; the Department for Education; and the US Ireland Research Programme
