As part of the Athena Swan initiative, this year Maynooth University will fund two Women in STEM Hume (WISH) awards. All applicants are subject to the eligibility requirements as stated in the John and Pat Hume Doctoral Scheme Terms and Conditions.

STEM Hume Awards

The two WISH awards are available only to women applicants to the Faculty of Science and Engineering, with priority given to applicants applying to the following five departments; Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Experimental Physics, Mathematics and Statistics and Theoretical Physics.

The value of the WISH awards is €18,000 plus full fees for 4 years. There is no disadvantage to applying for both the John and Pat Hume Doctoral Award and the WISH award. If an applicant is successful in both streams, they cannot hold both awards and must choose to accept one award offer.

Application Process

All applications will be evaluated through a single competition process within each faculty –  except for the scholarship available under the Maynooth Access Programme, which is subject to additional criteria. The highest ranked applicants within each faculty will be awarded the highest level award for which they are eligible, until all awards within each faculty have been distributed.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 29th March 2019. Find out more online at www.maynoothuniversity.ie.
