Mary Immaculate College (MIC), in partnership with the Gaelic Players Association (GPA), offers the MIC GPA Scholarship Scheme, open exclusively to GPA members who successfully secure a place on one of MIC’s postgraduate programmes in education or the liberal arts.
Each academic year, two scholarships are awarded, with at least one reserved for a female athlete, to support inter-county players as they pursue further education. This initiative reflects the shared commitment of MIC and the GPA to supporting personal and professional development through sport and education.
Award: Up to €5,000 (one academic year only), delivered through a fee waiver.
Funding split: MIC and the GPA each contribute up to €2,500 toward programme fees.
Eligibility: Open to GPA members who are accepted onto a qualifying MIC postgraduate programme.
Exclusions: Students receiving a Postgraduate Studentship/Assistantship are not eligible.
Duration: One academic year. Recipients may reapply in subsequent years.
Applicants must be nominated by the GPA.
Nominated candidates must apply through the standard MIC postgraduate application process.
Scholarships are awarded based on merit, using agreed assessment criteria.
Final decisions on eligibility and programme acceptance rest with MIC.
Application deadline: 25 July 2025
