University College Cork (UCC) and Irish financial services firm FDC Group have announced the renewal of their successful scholarship programme.

Worth a total of €250,000 over five years, the FDC Group Scholarships will support up to 20 students enrolled in either the MSc in Sustainable Development, Agri-Food and Co-Operatives; the MSc in Management and Marketing; or the Master’s in Accounting at Cork University Business School (CUBS).

An individual scholarship, to the value of €12,500, will cover programme fees and provide a guaranteed work placement at the FDC Group, allowing recipients to get essential hands-on experience while making useful industry contacts and building vital support networks.

“We are delighted to partner with FDC group, their generous support enables talented students to advance their studies to the postgraduate level and to gain practical business experience in a dynamic organisation like FDC, setting them on course for future success. ”. said Professor Thia Hennessy, Dean of Cork University Business School.

This generous gift was facilitated by Alumni and Development UCC and Cork University Foundation.

“Through corporate philanthropy like this, scholars are empowered to reach their full potential at university, while also being supported on the first steps of their career journey after graduation. We are grateful to FDC for their continued investment in student success” said Kerry Bryson, CEO of Cork University Foundation.

“Our aim is to ensure that the FDC Group Scholars receive all the support they need to develop while at university and feel empowered as they begin their careers. We are excited to support excellent research and in turn, enable them to put that research into practice here as part of our team” explained Liam Dillon, Manager at FDC Group.

Applications are now open with the first of these scholarships due to be awarded at the start of the academic year 2023/2024. Visit the UCC website for further information on how to apply: https://www.ucc.ie/en/scholarships/postgraduate/blschpg/b-lpgfdcgsjm
