Dublin City University Business School has announced the launch of two new postgraduate programmes in quantitative economics, aimed at preparing graduates for careers at the intersection of economics, analytics, business strategy and data-driven decision-making.

The new programmes — the MSc in Quantitative Economics for Business and Management and the MSc in Quantitative Economics for International Business and Management — will begin in September 2026 through DCU Business School.

Designed for graduates from economics, business, mathematics, engineering and other quantitatively focused disciplines, the courses will combine advanced economic theory with practical training in analytics, programming and strategic problem-solving. According to programme chair Professor Rob Gillanders, the programmes are intended to equip students with both “rigorous economics training” and applied skills relevant to industry and policy environments.

MSc in Quantitative Economics for International Business and Management will also provide access to the international QTEM network — a global alliance focused on quantitative techniques for economics and management. Through QTEM, students can gain international study opportunities and industry exposure alongside their academic training.  This programme is 18 months long and includes a 240 hours internship and a semester at a QTEM partnering institution.

The launch reflects growing demand for graduates who can combine economic insight with data analytics and quantitative modelling skills. Employers across finance, consulting, technology, public policy and international business are increasingly seeking professionals who can interpret complex economic data and apply it to real-world challenges.

The programmes will be delivered by DCU Business School, which holds triple accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA — a distinction held by a small number of business schools globally.

The MSc in Quantitative Economics for International Business and Management is positioned as an internationally focused programme with strong links to analytics and management decision-making, while the MSc in Quantitative Economics for Business and Management will offer broader training in econometrics, macroeconomics, behavioural economics and applied economic analysis.

DCU said the programmes are part of a wider push to align postgraduate education with evolving labour market needs in areas such as artificial intelligence, data science and evidence-based policymaking.
