Cork University Business School (CUBS) at University College Cork has teamed up with the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) to launch two new postgraduate scholarships. These scholarships, one for a female athlete and one for a male athlete, are specifically aimed at GPA members who wish to pursue a taught master’s degree at CUBS.

The scholarships were officially unveiled at a special event held at UCC on Friday, 6 June 2025. The launch was attended by Cork ladies’ footballers and current BIS students Niamh McNabola and Aimee Corcoran, Cork senior hurler and UCC student Ethan Twomey, UCC President Professor John O’Halloran, and Dublin footballer Brian Howard, who serves as the GPA’s Education and Programme Manager.

This new initiative reflects the shared commitment of both CUBS and the GPA to support the personal and professional development of inter-county players. By providing financial and academic support, the partnership aims to help athletes navigate the transition from sport to post-playing careers, while equipping them with the skills and qualifications to thrive in the business world.
