Postdoctoral Researcher with the Citizen Development Lab, NUI Galway

NUI Galway are accepting applications from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time two year fixed term position as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Citizen Development Lab at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

This position is funded by NUI Galway and is available from 1^st October 2021 to contract end date of 30^th September 2023.

The Citizen Development Lab was established with a view to supporting organisations to research improved approaches to sustain digital transformations through the rapid-cycle innovation it enables. There is growing evidence that Citizen Development can have a profound impact on organisations’ operational efficiency and agility. By empowering people to solve problems, we can also scale transformations more effectively and efficiently. We aim to investigate how organisations have adopted citizen development and current efforts to assess its impact on digital transformation initiatives.​

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Noel Carroll to conduct research in the area of Citizen Development in Digital Transformation.

Duties:

• Conduct a specified programme of research and scholarship under the supervision and direction of your Principal Investigator
• Engage and recruit industry collaborators within the Citizen Development Lab
• Organise seminars/workshops/training events on Citizen Development for a diverse audience (for example, the general public, students, and industry practitioners)
• Collaborate with colleagues on areas of shared research interest.
• Engage in the dissemination of the results of the research with the support of and under the supervision of your Principal Investigator.
• Write up results from own research activity.
• Publish on a regular basis (including blog posts and social media announcements).
• Assess research findings for commercial exploitation.
• Collaborate with the Principal Investigator to seek additional sources for research funding

Qualifications/Skills required:

Essential Requirements:

• PhD in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Management, or related disciplines
• Good publication track record
• Experience developing solutions on low-code no-code platforms (demonstrate product if possible)
• Excellent writing skills

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience with low-code no-code platforms
• Proven track record in publishing research in high impact journals
• Experience in organising seminars, workshops, and/or training events
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Knowledge of current developments in digital transformation

Salary: €38,631 to €42,201 per annum

Start date: Position is available from October 1^st 2021
