Nursing
The Master of Science is suitable for nurses who wish to complement their previous learning and build their academic and clinical profile within a specialist clinical field. The programme aims to empower the student to further enhance their acquired specialist knowledge and prepare them to act in more advanced clinical and leadership roles in the chosen clinical field, as service needs require. Students must register to undertake the Master of Science in Nursing within one of the seven areas of nursing as outlined by the Commission of Nursing (1998):
WD531: High Dependency Nursing: may be suitable for those working in areas such as coronary care, intensive therapy (psychiatry), neonatal intensive care nursing, renal nursing
WD532: Rehabilitation and Habilitation Nursing: may be suitable for those working in areas such as care of the older adult, spinal injuries and palliative care nursing
WD533: Medical Surgical Nursing: may be suitable for those working in areas such as oncology, infection control, stoma care, neurosciences and anesthesia nursing
WD534: Maternal and Child Health Nursing: may be suitable for those working in areas such as maternity, ultrasonography, paediatric cardiology and paediatric oncology nursing
WD535: Community Health Nursing: may be suitable for those working in areas such as health education and health promotion, family development and community mental health services
WD536: Mental Health Nursing: may be suitable for those working in areas such as addiction counselling and behaviour therap
WD537: Intellectual Disability Nursing: may be suitable for those working in areas such as sensory stimulation and challenging behaviour

Course Duration | The Master of Science in Nursing programme is delivered on a fortnightly basis (Thursdays). Class time will be less than the Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing programme, as research supervision and peer group sessions will be the predominant method of learning support. |
