MBA - Masters of Business Administration (Part-time)
IBAT’s part-time MBA will allow you to study while juggling a demanding job. This programme covers the latest management theories with the practical skills that modern employers need. The classes will take place two evenings a week, allowing you to upskill and accelerate your career alongside your current job.
The two-year course was designed alongside industry experts and corporate partners to ensure it meets the requirements of modern business. By combining theory and practice, the course will provide you with the skills needed to effectively manage an organisation. You will also learn essential knowledge in leading principles while gaining a foundation of the international aspects of business operations.
Part 1 (6 modules) – 2 semesters
Finance for Managers –
To provide students with an overview of financial (accounting) statements and related theories in order to develop a comprehensive and critical understanding of financial techniques and processes which enable management to evaluate and make strategic decisions in the context of competitive environments.
Marketing Management –
To allow students to critically evaluate the contribution of marketing in any organisation and critically evaluate its marketing activities.
Strategic Management –
To provide a comprehensive understanding of the issues and techniques of the strategic management process for organisations & to provide insight into new perspectives and experiences of current strategic thinking which contribute to innovative decision making at all business levels for sustainable competitive advantage.
Human Resource Management –
To develop a critical and analytical understanding of the importance and nature of HR in a global context and to develop a professional understanding of what the HR function can have in terms of a sustainable organisation capability and innovation through people.
Digital Entrepreneurship –
To be able to systematically deal with complex and ever changing digital environment and to understand and critically evaluate the methods, techniques and technologies to rapidly build a new e-Business and grow an existing business digitally.
Leading and Managing Projects
Learn to demonstrate self-direction and originality in tackling and solving problems and to apply the principles and practices of project management critically and autonomously at a professional level and discover how to deal with complex issues analytically, systematically and creatively, make evaluative judgements in the absence of complete data and communicate their conclusions clearly to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
Part 2 Dissertation – 6 months
- To develop a critical and systematic understanding of the application of research methodologies, and an ability to frame a research proposal
- To develop a systematic understanding of how to report research results in written format to an academic and/or professional audience, and to further develop the student’s capacity for critical analysis and independent thought
The part-time MBA is taught at our state-of-the-art campus in the heart of Dublin City. Perfectly situated in Temple Bar, on the Quays, the campus is ideal for those who wish to study in the city after work, with bus, train and tram routes easily accessible nearby.

Entry Requirements | Please note that because this course is part-time, we recommend that prospective students are based in-country, rather than being international. This is due to delivery methods and VISA requirements. The entry requirements for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme are: Hold a minimum of a 2.2 honours degree (level 8), or an appropriate equivalent, i.e, a professional qualification from a recognised education institution in Ireland, or abroad. An IELTS score of 6.0, with at least a 5.5 in all components, or equivalent, is required for non-native English speakers. OR Have an appropriate period of prior experiential learning and/or relevant experience in management or business related employment fields, or a related area/discipline/subject experience. This is normally equivalent to, or comparable with at least two years relevant experiential learning. This period is not prescriptive and will be interpreted flexibly as part of consideration for entry. |
