Conflict Management

The Master of Arts offers in depth study into the theory and practice of conflict management. This programme will challenge traditional views of conflict, and encourage students to develop a reflective, theory-based approach to the application of conflict management skills, and in particular mediation.

Practical instruction and exercises will take place within a theoretical framework, and students will take an active part in their learning. The programme will develop candidates professional competence and confidence in this exciting area and leads them in the planning and execution of research in this field.

Entry RequirementsA primary degree (min H2:2) or evidence of equivalent academic qualification and relevant professional experience. Applicants without the above but who hold substantial relevant professional experience will also be considered for admission based on evidence of professional experience. Applicants with previous qualifications in Mediation and Conflict Resolution may apply for recognition of Accredited Prior Learning.
Carear PathGraduates from this programme will have acquired the necessary skills and qualification to practice as a mediator, and use the conflict management skills, and research capacity gained in a wide variety of contexts where people interact for example, education, healthcare, social and community work, management, law and business.
