Ireland's first virtual or simulated trading floor was officially opened earlier this month by Deputy Chairman of Thomson Reuters, Mr Niall FitzGerald KBE . The KBS (Kemmy Business School) Trading Floor is Ireland's first campus-based, simulated trading floor and is believed to be the first purpose-built facility of its kind in an EU University.
Strategically located in the new KBS building, the Trading Floor is managed by a select group of finance faculty at the KBS. The facility is equipped with the latest hardware and communication infrastructure and a sophisticated suite of licensed proprietary trading and investment software.
Reuters 3000 Xtra is a high-speed, integrated information and transaction service giving students a commanding view of the global real-time financial arena and provides a combination of information and insight as well as access to the global Reuters trading community.
Similarly, EcoWinPro is a leading provider of economic and financial market data combining comprehensive data content with sophisticated applications, providing students with an invaluable tool for analysing countries, sectors and financial markets. The facility also has a range of sophsticated financial software allowing for easy data manipulation, plotting of market prices, implementation of algorithms and creation of user interfaces.
Following the opening, Mr FitzGerald delivered a lecture to a packed audience of postgraduate students and invited guests on Restoring Trust in Business.
