Queen’s University Belfast is one of the twenty research-led universities in the UK's Russell Group, and is one of the leading centres for historical and anthropological research on the island of Ireland. It has particular research strengths in Ethnomusicology and Social Anthropology, Irish history, the history of modern Britain and its empire, in ancient and medieval history, and in the history of the American South, and has specialists in a range of other research fields. The Institutes of Irish Studies and Cognition and Culture are also based in the School. There is a large postgraduate body of students and a lively research culture featuring a range of weekly seminars. Research and research training is given a high priority and is supported by the University's Postgraduate Office.
The University is situated in the leafy suburbs of south Belfast, the capital city of Northern Ireland. Easily accessible by air, there are many flights each day to the rest of the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.

The School of History and Anthropology warmly invites prospective students to this event which begins at 11am in the main foyer of the Drama & Film Centre, 20 University Square, Belfast, BT7
Talks will be given by academic staff from these subject areas and afterwards, prospective students will be able to chat to lecturers over a buffet lunch. We expect the event to conclude at 2pm.
