21st Century Learning Resources

From PCs to periodicals and coursework to coffee breaks, LJMU’s Learning Resource Centres provide access to all the resources and student support services you’ll need to succeed in your degree and have a great student experience.

LJMU has three Learning Resource Centres, with one based in each of the City, Mount Pleasant and IM Marsh campuses. This means that whatever and wherever you are studying at the university you are never far from one of these Centres and with 24/7 opening hours during semesters, you can pop in anytime, day or night, at a time that’s most convenient for you.

The Centres combine the best aspects of traditional libraries with everything you’d expect from a modern university: there’s Wi-Fi access throughout, computers, books, periodicals and journals as well as online resources. Sofas, newspapers and on-screen information systems also help to create spaces where you can relax after lectures or studying.

Every subject, every topic, every interest is covered in the libraries – in formats ranging from DVD and CD, to journals, satellite TV programmes, magazines, and of course books. Increasingly academic publishing and comment takes place online and LJMU’s electronic library gives you access to 22,000 electronic journals, newspapers, conference proceedings, maps, legal documents and much more.

International Students

LJMU offers an extensive support system through its international office and study centre. An equivalence to the normal entry requirements is needed for entry. Students must also demonstrate a proficiency in communicating through English, for example with an IELTS tests or equivalent. Please note that because of UK visa restrictions, "International" students are only permitted to study on a full-time basis. Please contact LJMU’s International Team by visiting www.ljmu.ac.uk/international for more information and advice.

Employment and careers

Liverpool John Moores University’s new Graduate Development Centre (GDC) offers a range of services to help you gain the skills experiences and confidence you will need to succeed as professionals after you graduate. As a postgraduate student our aim is to bring you closer to the world of work.

The Centre will support you in developing a variety of World of Work or "WoW" skills that are valued by employers and will help you stand out from the competition.

In addition to "Ready for Work", LJMU has worked with senior business leaders to identify a set of higher-level World of Work skills to give you an even greater competitive edge

Financial Support

  Why Liverpool?

Why Liverpool?

Liverpool is the place to be right now – the city is thriving and there is a real buzz about the place. This is perhaps the most exciting time in the history of this unique city – Liverpool was European Capital of Culture in 2008 and the major regeneration projects and business investment that resulted from this honour have meant that the economy is thriving and Government figures show we have the fastest growing jobs rate of any English city.

Investment in Liverpool is continuing to be supported and encouraged, with schemes such as "Liverpool vision" helping to create a world class city for businesses and providing plenty of opportunities for investment in the city. Some say Liverpool is going through an "economic renaissance" and is increasingly promoted as the place to be for private sector organisations.

This focus on business and regeneration seems to be attracting more students than ever to Liverpool. Clearly the approach is working – we're increasingly finding that our students are staying on in the city after graduation… clearly, once you come to Liverpool, you'll never want to leave.
