The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, (CIMA)  is the world’s leading and largest professional body of Management Accountants, with 172,000 members and students operating in 165 countries, working at the heart of business. CIMA members are qualified Chartered Management Accountants who apply their business skills in many different areas and industry sectors. Typically CIMA members go on to achieve senior positions as strategic managers in public and private sector organisations. In Ireland north and south, CIMA maintains a graduate and student membership of over 7,800, comprised of financial and strategic decision makers working in industry, commerce and not-for-profit organisations that drive the economies of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The current syllabus comprises of the Certificate in Business Accounting and the CIMA Professional Qualification, which includes the Operational level, the Managerial level, Strategic level and TOPCIMA.

The CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting Qualification is awarded on completion of the Certificate level examinations (5 exams in total). The Certificate in Business Accounting introduces you to the world of finance and business management. It can also be stepping stone to the CIMA Professional Qualification for those interested in becoming a Chartered Management Accountant.

On completion of the Operational level examinations (a further 3 exams), students are awarded a Diploma in Management Accounting. You will be awarded an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting on completion of the Managerial level (3 exams). The final level comprises of three strategy papers and a case study, TOPCIMA.

A CIMA member (Chartered Management Accountant) will have completed the professional qualification, and will also have gained three years' relevant work experience. Chartered management accountants provide the financial information necessary for the planning and development of organisations and commercial companies.

Your Entry Point

Because CIMA is not merely a financial qualification, our students come from a wide range of backgrounds. Of our existing students, only half have a business or financial qualification; the rest come from a variety of social sciences, language, science or engineering courses. Graduates of business or accountancy disciplines may be awarded exemptions from complete stages and/or exam papers.
