CIMA (the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) and UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, one of Europe’s leading business schools, have reinforced their close ties with the introduction of a new MSc in Strategic Management Accounting. The part time programme will commence in September 2010.
The curriculum, which is closely aligned to the CIMA qualification, will be reinforced by a wealth of national and international academic and business experience, and will be delivered by outstanding lecturers led by Academic Director, Christoph Drechsler.
Who is the MSc in Strategic Management Accounting for?
This programme is for you if you want to accelerate your career progression and go on to qualify as a Chartered Management Accountant
Successful graduates of the programme will gain exemptions from the CIMA management and strategic level exams and progress to the institute’s final Test of Professional Competence (T4).

The programme will cover modules such as: Strategic management, Organisational behaviour, Performance measurement and management, Management control systems, Strategic corporate finance, Current issues in financial reporting and analysis, Current issues in performance measurement and control, Corporate governance and ethics, Risk manegement, and Project management.
There will be particular emphasis on practical organisational applications of knowledge through, for example, an innovative enterprise based research project.

The vision of the MSc in Strategic Management Accounting programme is to equip participants with a systematic and rigorous knowledge of management accounting in the context of strategic management.
The collaboration of UCD Smurfit School and CIMA, together with the business community, has informed the design of the programme so that it responds to strategic corporate needs.
